Ahhh, technically everyone has been back on campus for a while now, but I still want to share how I decorated my room! In previous dorm rooms/living situations, I didn’t put much thought into decor. I typically just collected mismatched things here and there and threw them on the walls and called it a day. Since this is my first time living in my own apartment with my own room, I wanted to change that old habit. To be honest it’s still a work in progress but I knew I didn’t want to put this off any longer 🙂
The theme or aesthetic (so trendy, I know) that I went for was focusing on metals, whether it was gold, silver, or copper. I’m a big fan of metallics and bold things these days, so it just worked. Also, I’m not big on a lot of colors, so keeping things neutral with blacks/greys/whites is always a must.
I dedicated a wall to hanging purses, hats, and my shoe rack. This look might not be for everyone, but I tend to have an issue where if I’m not looking at it, I’ll forget I have it. So this really helps remind me of what I have, and most importantly what I don’t need to go out and buy (you’re welcome, mom!)
I ventured into the thrifting world for a few of these decor items, which I’ve been doing more and more of lately, mostly just picture frames and small trinkets. I feel a lot better knowing I’m doing the environment (and my wallet) some favors that way! Majority of the items though are from affordable places like TjMaxx, Target, Ikea, Hobby Lobby, etc. and Amazon Prime was absolutely necessary.
